Action for Korea United Japan
Koreans living in Japan altogether number more than half a million people, including those with Japanese citizenship who emigrated before the division of Korea in 1945; their descendants; North Korean defectors, and others.
Global Peace Foundation Japan supports Action for Korea United Japan’s efforts to shed light on the grave human rights violations taking place in North Korea and to promote the importance of the peaceful resolution of Korea’s division to resolve these serious issues.
Action for Korea United Japan Chairwoman Eiko Kawasaki is herself a survivor of and vocal activist against North Korea’s oppression of its people, particularly those lured to North Korea from Japan decades ago with promises of freedom and material prosperity only to experience a life of privation, denial of basic freedoms, and discrimination as immigrants.
