World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is held annually on 5 October to celebrate and appreciate all teachers around the globe. It was launched by UNESCO in 1994. One and a half years into the COVID-19 crisis, the 2021 World Teachers’ Day will focus on the support teachers need to fully contribute to the recovery process under the theme “Teachers at the heart of education recovery.”

World Teachers’ Day presents an opportunity to elevate teachers in ways that build respect for the people and profession. World Teachers’ Day highlights the need to support, provide for, and empower teachers as the world community strives towards peace and development, sustainable societies, and quality education for all.
