Christian clergymen from various churches, led by Global Peace Foundation Executive Director Daniel Juma, joined Muslims for Friday prayers in Nairobi’s Jamia Mosque. More than 10,000 worshippers attended the Friday prayers.
In the midst of violent religious extremism, according to the Inter-Religious Council of Kenya, this event acted as a bridge to the growing mistrust between Muslims and Christians. This event also coincided with the International Day of Peace.
“Our presence here is a clear testimony that no religion can be used to preach hate and violence. We are one human race under one God,” Omondi said. He continued with, “All religions must come together and deal with the growing threat of extremism. We must say no to intolerance.”
The Christian clerics said they will soon host Muslim leaders in their churches.
