About 1,200 civic activists, politicans, and religious and academic leaders gathered in Yeouido, Seoul to discuss the reunification of North and South Korea at the Action for Korea United Leaders Assembly Oct. 8, 2015.
Hosted by Action for Korea United (AKU), all conference participants showed their support for reunification and pledged to take ownership of the reunification movement. High-profile guests from overseas, representing various sectors of society attended the event, such as Dr. Hyun Jin Moon, Founder and President of the Global Peace Foundation, Dr. Edwin Feulner, Founder of the Heritage Foundation, Rep. Kim Moo-sung, Chairman of the ruling Saenuri Party, Rep. Moon Jae-in, Chairman of New Politics Alliance, and H.E. Marco Vinicio Cerezo, former Guatemalan President.
At the conference, Dr. Hyun Jin Moon, a key driver of AKU, received an appreciation plaque for his leading role in encouraging this collective civic movement. He stated during his keynote speech, “The vision for a reunified Korea has always been with us. It is our identity. It is not only the hope of South and North Korea, but also the hope of Asian countries and the world. You are the owners of the Korean dream.”
