Dr. Ricardo Pama is first and foremost an academician, having been in the field of the academe for 49 years.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering from Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, a Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (formerly SEATO Graduate School of Engineering) from Bangkok, Thailand, and a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.
He joined AIT in 1970 and in his 26 years there, he held various positions; first, as Professor of Structural Engineering; then, as Vice President for Development, and later on as Vice President for Academic Affairs.
He returned to the Philippines in 1996 to further pursue his academic career. For fifteen years he became President of two universities: the Angeles University Foundation and the University of the Cordilleras, until his retirement in 2014.
A prolific writer, he authored three text books and published over 100 technical papers in referred international journals.
He is currently Secretary General of the Association of Universities of Asia and the Pacific (AUAP), and Chairman of the Technical Panel for Engineering and Technology of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) under the Office of the President.
