Irene is a gender and child rights activist based in Tanzania. She aims at empowering women and children to know their rights and be the agents of their own change. She actively engages in community and national level dialogues, championing reviewing laws, policies, and regulations as supportive means for increased gender equality.

Irene promotes the accessibility of labor rights for women in Dar es Salaam. She promotes women’s participation in conflict resolution at local levels as a means to prevent violent extremism (PVE) in Tanzania. She is a member of African Women Leadership Network and Tanzania Women Directors Forum.
