Afroz is a Masters student in the Civil & Environmental Engineering department at Stanford. Her primary area of interest is energy and resource efficiency for environmentally responsible housing. She is looking forward to understanding and addressing the dimensions of rural sanitation problems as part of this team, and hopes to work on the design and development of sustainable communities in the years to come.
She is a LEED AP (Building Design & Construction) and plans to specialize in sustainable infrastructure with an emphasis on solar passive design and biomimicry. Her current interest is boosting stakeholder involvement in complex multi-party construction projects.
She fell in love with D.C. over spring break and is excited about evaluating policy models and developing health metrics as a MAP fellow at the US Green Building Council.
Afroz likes creating the big picture and is excited about weaving together her experiences working with energy, buildings, health & sanitation, food systems and education to champion sustainable development. Free time brings out the artsy side in her and she channels it towards dance, theater, photography, crochet, writing and language art.
