The Youth Entrepreneurship for Development is a collaborative project organized by Global Peace Foundation (GPF) Brazil and partners GPF Nigeria and GPF Tanzania. The virtual training program helps young people between the ages of 18 and 35 discover new business ideas, develop their business ideas, and improve on their existing businesses by making their business products or services relevant to the market.
The entrepreneurship program aims to help Nigerian and Tanzanian youth acquire the skills, knowledge, and resources needed to create and improve their businesses by generating and increasing income for themselves and their families.
Experts from Brazil shared their business knowledge online in November and December 2022 in virtual training sessions for more than 70 Tanzanian youth and 50 young entrepreneurs from Nigeria.
Olamide Johnson, a student at Kaduna State University, was inspired by his experience. He said, “I have attended various physical and virtual entrepreneurial trainings in the past, but none is anywhere near this one. The training is so rich, practical, and applicable. I sincerely appreciate Global Peace Foundation for this opportunity.”
Participants in the training program were provided with guidance on marketing, strategic planning, explaining the sales process, and the many other components of maintaining a successful business. Dr. Fatma Waziri, the Senior Program Manager at GPF Tanzania, explained the importance of the training program to encourage youth to become responsible and successful members of their communities. She described how by empowering youth economically, they are more able to contribute to the peacebuilding process in their local areas.
