Ninja Van teamed up with us at Global Peace Foundation Malaysia to kick off their 2nd corporate volunteering session – this time round in Kampung Gemuruh, Bera, Pahang. Known for their logistical prowess, Ninja Van proved they’re just as skilled at rolling up their sleeves and stepping in to get the coop up!

From logistics to livelihood

A team of 24 volunteers from Kuala Lumpur came together to construct a chicken coop as part of a poultry farming project funded by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Fund.

The heavy rain the night before left the ground muddy, but it didn’t dampen their spirits. Guided by several villagers, the volunteers eagerly took on various construction tasks, from mixing cement in just the right proportions of stones, sand, and water, to carefully laying the cement floor.

“Even at 71, it’s comforting to know that there are still people who care and are willing to lend a hand,’ he said, touched by the support.

The project, which would have taken 71-year-old Halludin, (the coop owner) several days to complete alone, was accelerated by the team’s support. Halludin expressed his gratitude, acknowledging the volunteers for helping lay the foundation of his chicken coop.

Again! Who says Ninjas only deliver? They build chicken coop too!

Faiz Fauzi, Ninja Van’s QAHSE Executive, described the experience as “a rewarding kind of tired.” Reflecting on the event, he emphasized the value of building relationships with the villagers while contributing to their community. “We’re not just building a chicken coop, but also building connections and understanding their way of life,” he shared.

For Azra Fakhira from the Freight division, the experience was impactful. Mixing cement and engaging in construction tasks was entirely new to her, but she embraced every moment with eagerness.

This initiative exemplifies Ninja Van’s commitment to Orang Asli community empowerment after having been collaborating with GPF for many years. For the volunteers, it was a chance to experience the joy of coming together to make a real difference, showing that collaboration doesn’t just create structures but strengthens communities and uplifts the human spirit.
