The intergovernmental authority on development IGAD has lauded the recently concluded elections terming them peaceful and a classic showcase of African democracy. The IGAD executive secretary ambassador Mahboub Maalim says there was a marked improvement in the performance of government institutions involved in the elections including the police and the judiciary. Ambassador maalim spoke during a joint press briefing with organizations that partnered with the regional body to facilitate peace initiatives during the elections.
