Global Peace Development-Dominican Republic (GPD-DR) installed five solar street lamps in each community that make up the Cidral. During the launch of GPD-DR, a donation of these solar lamps provided a ray of light in the darkness that filled the streets at sunset.

The solar street lamps were installed with the help of every member of the community, which they themselves sought the materials needed to sustain the lamps. When the lights turned on for the first time, every community member expressed happiness and desire for more.
