Health and Hygiene
An area that became even more relevant with the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Global Peace Foundation volunteers have worked to provide short- and long-term health and hygiene education in local communities.
A number of GPF chapters had already been engaged in health and hygiene education programs but with the COVID-19 pandemic, chapters in Mongolia, Malaysia, Cambodia, the Philippines, Kenya, Tanzania, and Nigeria placed a greater emphasis on educating people on the importance of handwashing good hygiene as part of its programs.
GPF volunteers in Nepal and India have also helped local women with issues surrounding menstruation by providing education and training as well as providing homemade sanitary napkins. This continued as part of GPF’s disaster relief response to the 2021 typhoon in Nepal.
