International Religious Freedom Roundtable

As a staunch advocate for religious freedom around the world, the Global Peace Foundation is an active member of the International Religious Freedom Roundtable. GPF Vice President Dr. Paul Murray serves as the Roundtable co-chair, on the Roundtable’s steering committee, and in the executive leadership level of the International Religious Freedom Secretariat.

The International Religious Freedom Secretariat and its Roundtables are comprised of representatives from non-governmental organizations who gather regularly to discuss international religious freedom issues on a non-attribution basis and propose joint advocacy actions to address the protection and promotion of freedom of religion, conscience, and belief around the globe.

The Washington, DC Roundtable convenes weekly virtual meetings which include senior staff from the U.S. State Department, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom, the U.S. Helsinki Commission, the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, the International Religious Freedom Caucus, Members of Congress, and foreign embassies. With approximately 83 percent of the world’s population now living in countries with high government restrictions on religion according to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, the goal of the Roundtable is to reverse the rising tide of restrictions on religious freedom that is spreading globally.
