Some communities in Nigeria struggle with issues related to poverty as well as conflicts that escalate into violence. To address both of these issues, the Global Peace Foundation Nigeria (GPFN), in collaboration with Graceful Living Foundation, organized a skills acquisition program in Kuje to encourage peacebuilding and unity. In this program, 40 women participants were taught practical skills such as making snacks and doughnuts as a means to make a livelihood as well as to promote peace in their community.

According to Leadership.ng, GPFN director, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, shared, “You will want to relate cordially with people who come to patronize you and look after them and this will make you want to work as brothers and sisters.’’

Considering the important role women play in their families and communities, the program aimed to empower women, equipping them with practical skills and attitudes that would contribute to community peace and development. Several participants noted that the training helped them to work and be productive in their community.
