A moment of shared joy: Members of the Mbya Guarani community enjoy a heartfelt Christmas lunch brought spontaneously by the Global Peace Foundation, spreading hope and togetherness
The holiday season is celebrated as a time of joy for many but can also often highlight the deep inequalities that exist within our societies, as marginalized communities struggle to meet basic needs. For many indigenous groups, such as the Mbya Guarani in Santa Rita, Alto Paraná, the festive spirit can feel out of reach due to limited resources and daily challenges.
Recognizing this disparity, the Global Peace Foundation in Paraguay took a step to bring hope and joy to these communities. On December 25th at 1 PM, the foundation, led by its Director of Social Affairs, Mrs. Marlene Ocampos, organized an act of solidarity that would brighten the day for 80 to 100 individuals from diverse ethnic backgrounds. The community, primarily dedicated to recycling for their livelihoods, received an unexpected visit filled with compassion and generosity.
In alignment with its principle of “Living for the Sake of Others,” Fundación Paz Global sponsored Navidad Solidaria, a heartwarming initiative that provided a special meal of gallinada (a traditional chicken stew), soft drinks, and bread rolls. The event became a symbol of shared humanity as the Ocampos Benítez family actively participated, fostering a sense of unity and celebration.
