Global Giving: Bringing Light and Hope to Villages in the Philippines

According to World Health Organization, the Philippines ranks 2nd in Asia Pacific for indoor pollution caused by kerosene and solid fuels linked to deaths among children and women. Sadly, most indigenous children rely on kerosene lanterns so they can study at night.

With the help of local and international partners, Global Peace Foundation is helping rural Philippine communities bring a long-term solution. The introduction of solar energy has a significant impact on the quality of life in off-grid and impoverished communities.

Already serving thousands of people in need, GPF Philippines’ projects are providing solar light technology and education through a partnership with the Philippines Department of Education.

The latest campaign with Global Giving hopes to bring solar lamps to 900 indigenous children and their families in Oriental Mindoro so they can gain access to a safer, less expensive, healthier, and more environmental friendly light source to help them study after dark.
