Negative ethnicity is the biggest challenge facing Kenya and the African continent in general, said Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.

Mr. Musyoka challenged leaders to show their seriousness in the fight against negative ethnicity for the sake of peace and stability.

The Vice President said it is the responsibility of leaders to preach peaceful co-existence among different ethnic communities if a united nation free from tribalism and negative ethnicity has to be realized.

The irony, however, Mr. Musyoka said is that most of the greetings human beings exchange the world over directly seek or indirectly emphasize the need to maintain or uphold peace.

The Vice President made the remarks today during the official opening of International Young Leaders Summit 2010 at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre (KICC).

Mr. Musyoka urged the leaders to embrace the spirit of service delivery in every course or forum they are deployed to.

He said that the heart of a servant in leaders should complement the make-up of a great leadership that they are called to.

The Vice President at the same time said recklessness of behavior, lack of personal discipline and disregard for moral rectitude threatens human health both physical and mental in potentially very devastating ways.

Mr. Musyoka urged the youth to desist destructive tendencies as abuse of drugs and substances and indulgence in unfettered sexual engagement among other vices. The VP said it is only through servant leadership that corruption and negative ethnicity can be confronted.

“Kenyans have no said no to corruption and tribalism. It is time leaders demonstrate servant leadership if we are to prosper in development,” he said.
