Global leaders, including those in government, religious, nongovernmental, media, academic, civil society, and youth organizations are expected at the conference, which is endorsed by Department of Education and Commission on Higher Education. Sessions will be held for various sectors, including the Global Young Leaders and Student Assembly 2013 for high school, college, and community youth leaders. Other activities are a GPF Youth Contest and a coastal cleanup of Manila Bay. The Global Peace Volunteers (GPV), a project of the GPF, will be launched during the conference, to mobilize youth volunteers, institutions and cultural groups to provide relief services, medical mission and community outreach in areas damaged by super-typhoon Yolanda in the Visayas and Mindanao.

Initiated in Malaysia in 2011, GPV focuses on instilling values in university undergraduates.  It is a platform for an exchange of ideas and learning through service. Another GPF program is bringing solar lights to villages without electricity, under the Alllights Village campaign, to complement the Philippine government’s program of lighting 30,000 sitios in rural communities.

The GPF, with its vision of “One Family Under God,” is a global movement of peace-builders working in partnership with governments and organizations to pursue common principles, values, and aspirations. Its main objective is to educate, particularly the needy and those without access to school facilities, as well as promote reconciliation, mutual respect, harmony, and cooperation. It provides health and nutrition assistance for rural poor and works with youth groups, builds interfaith dialogues, strengthens families and communities, and fosters a culture of service and peace globally.
